Happy Thursday friends! We’ve got one more day until the weekend and I don’t know about you but I can’t wait for Friday at 5pm to get myself a drink to celebrate the weekend. You probably know by now that I’m a lover of everything Moscow mules, and it’s even better when they’re served in a signature copper mug.
The real question is WHY are they served in those pretty copper mugs? I bet most people don’t know that there’s an actual point to serving them that way.. and it’s not just because they look beautiful that way (even though they do!) Did you know that there’s a little bit of a science behind the copper mugs? Scroll down and I’ll tell you about it!

The reasoning behind serving a Moscow mule in a copper mug is all about temperature. Who knew?? Kind of like when you order a martini and they chill the glass while they make it.. Or when you order a beer and they serve it in a frozen glass.. Same concept. Everyone loves a cold cocktail and a Moscow mule is nothing different. The fun fact here is that the copper itself takes on the same temperature of the ice in the glass quickly, so when you take a sip of the icy cocktail the rim of the mug is the same temperature as the drink.
Along with taking on the temperature of the actual drink itself, the copper is also said to deflect the sun and the handle helps keep your body heat away from the wall of the mug. Which is why a Moscow mule is perfect for summertime. Now, doesn’t that make you want a Moscow Mule right now? Cheers!
